CNC Plastics Machining Cost

Plastics are often used for lightweight, low-friction, insulating, or chemically resistant parts. They can machine quickly, but material behavior varies widely.

Common CNC plastics

Delrin is stable and machines well. Nylon can absorb moisture. Acrylic can crack if mishandled. PTFE is soft and slippery. PEEK is high-performance but expensive.

Dimensional stability

Some plastics move with heat, moisture, and stress relief. Tight tolerances may be harder to hold than expected, especially on thin features.
