CNC Machining vs 3D Printing
CNC machining removes material from stock. 3D printing builds material layer by layer. Both can be useful for prototypes and production, but they fit different needs.
When CNC is strong
CNC is often preferred for production-grade materials, tight tolerances, smooth surfaces, and parts that must match final manufacturing material properties.
When 3D printing is strong
3D printing can be faster for complex prototypes, internal channels, lightweight structures, and low-load concept parts.
Cost comparison
For simple metal or plastic parts, CNC may be competitive. For highly complex one-off shapes, printing may be cheaper. For high volumes, other processes may win.
