How to Improve CNC Quote Accuracy

The best quote is based on complete information. When details are missing, suppliers must make assumptions, ask questions, or add risk to the price.

Provide complete files

Send both a 3D CAD file and a 2D drawing. The CAD file helps with geometry, while the drawing communicates tolerance, material, finish, and inspection requirements.

State assumptions clearly

Include quantity, target lead time, shipping location, acceptable substitutions, finish standard, and whether certificates are required.

Ask for feedback

Invite DFM suggestions. A supplier may identify simple changes that lower cost without hurting performance.

Online estimates are most useful when followed by a complete RFQ package.
